JAKARTA - The National Police confirmed that the perpetrators of the attack at the Ogan Komering Ilir (OKI) Police, South Sumatra, belonged to a certain sect. However, it was not explained whether it was related to terrorist groups.

Head of Public Relations Division of the Police, Inspector General Argo Yuwono said, based on information obtained from intelligence, the perpetrator named Indra Oktomi (35) is indeed someone who adheres to a certain ideology. In fact, from his track record, it was also noted that the perpetrator was a recidivist in several cases.

"The initial statement concerned was a recidivist, the persecution case was later also suspected of being related to narcotics. And the intelligence report stated that he also understood a certain flow so that he shouted to challenge the police there," said Argo in Jakarta, Monday, June 29. .

In order to trace the motives of the perpetrators, said Argo, investigators from the Ogan Komering Ilir Police have carried out investigative steps. For example, finding out the chronology of events to examining a number of witnesses.

The attack, which took place on Sunday, June 28, at around 02.30 WIB, started when several picket officers were on guard as usual. However, from a distance the white car was driving at a fairly high speed towards the police station.

Suddenly the white car that the perpetrator was driving hit the fence of the Ogan Komering Ilir Police, causing it to collapse. Thus, the incident immediately received a response from the duty officer.

Kapolres Ogan Komering Ilir, AKBP Alamsyah Palupessy said the perpetrator had parked the car in the backyard of the Police after he succeeded in breaking through the fence. Then, the perpetrator ran to the guard room and immediately attacked the officer using a sharp weapon.

So, the duty officer with the identity of Aipda M Nur suffered serious injuries. Next, the perpetrator returned to his car. Officers immediately surrounded him and asked him to surrender.

"But the perpetrators went out and tried to attack the surrounding members," said Alamsyah.

On the grounds that the perpetrator could endanger the officer's life, one of the members was forced to shoot the perpetrator in the leg. However, the perpetrator actually died because he ran out of blood on the way when he was taken to the Kayuagung Hospital.
