JAKARTA - The Governor of East Java, Khofifah Indar Parawansa, asked his citizens to continue to implement strict health protocols, even though the COVID-19 case was sloping.

"Please continue to strictly maintain health protocols so that there will be more low-risk zones. We even hope that there will be a green or controlled zone soon," said Governor Khofifah as quoted by Antara, Thursday, August 26.

Meanwhile, the Governor revealed, the bed occupancy rate in hospitals treating COVID-19 patients has continued to decline significantly.

"Alhamdulillah, the occupancy rate of beds in hospitals continues to decline significantly. Hopefully it will continue to swell and be under control. Please pray for and support all. Please remain disciplined with health protocols," said the Governor.

The condition of the Bed Occupancy Rate (BOR) in East Java continues to decline compared to last July 3. ICU BOR in East Java from 78 percent on July 3, 2021 has fallen by 29 percent on August 25, 2021 to 49 percent. Then the Isolation BOR from 81 percent on July 3, 2021 has decreased by 52 percent to 29 percent.

Governor Khofifah also said that based on data as of August 25, 2021, there are only four regencies/cities in East Java with red zones, namely Ponorogo Regency, Nganjuk Regency, Batu City, and Blitar Regency.

In East Java, as of Thursday, July 26, there were 378,092 people who were confirmed positive for COVID-19. There are 334,912 people who have recovered, 15,705 people are still being treated, and 27,475 people have died.
