Update On COVID-19 As Of June 28: First Time For Recovering 1,000 Patients

JAKARTA - Government spokesman for the handling of COVID-19 Achmad Yurianto (Yuri) explained that there were an additional 1,198 confirmed positive cases as of Sunday, June 28 at 12.00 WIB. The total number of positive cases became 54,010 people.

The province with the highest number of new cases today is East Java with 330 new cases. East Java has also become the province with the highest total accumulation of cases, namely 11,508 cases. East Java has overtaken DKI, which has been the province with the most cases.

Then, another province with high new cases is in South Sulawesi with 192 cases and a total of 4,807 cases. Then, Central Java with 188 new cases and a total of 3,482 cases. DKI Jakarta with 125 new cases and 11,114 total cases. Meanwhile, South Kalimantan reported 73 new cases and 3,003 total cases.

Of the 34 provinces that reported, there were 20 provinces reporting new cases under 10. Of these provinces, 9 of them reported that today there were no additional new cases.

Then, the number of patients who died today increased by 34 people, bringing it to 2,754 patients. There were an additional 1,027 recovered patients, bringing the total to 22,936 patients. Several significant additional cases, namely from Papua province today reported 26 new cases and 335 recovered cases.

"This data is actually data that we have collected from yesterday, but it has not been confirmed individually, only in the form of aggregate data, and today it can be resolved administratively," said Yuri at Graha BNPB, East Jakarta, Sunday, June 28.

Furthermore, the total number of specimens that have been examined has accumulated as many as 770,600. In detail, 752,210 specimens were examined using real time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and 18,390 specimens were examined using a molecular rapid test (TCM).

This examination was carried out in 121 active RT-PCR laboratories, 101 TCM laboratories, and 262 network laboratories. The rate of positive cases was 11.8 percent of all examinations conducted.

Then, the patient data under surveillance (PDP) which is currently still being monitored reached 14,712 people. Meanwhile, people under monitoring (ODP) who are currently still being monitored reach 47,658.

Yuri explained, most of the new cases that have emerged illustrate that there is still a source of transmission in the community that includes people without symptoms (OTG) but carries the corona virus in their bodies.

"Let us understand together that the addition of this case illustrates that compliance discipline to implement health protocols is still not fully implemented properly. This means that there are still sick people who are confirmed positive but do not carry out self-isolation properly," said Yuri.

Based on the calculation of data from the Task Force for the Acceleration of Handling of COVID-19, it was explained that someone who carries the virus but does not wear a mask can transmit the corona virus 100 percent.

Meanwhile, if people who are sick carrying the virus do not wear masks, and have close contact with other people who wear masks, transmission will drop to around 70 percent.

Then, if the person who carries this virus uses a mask and other people around him do not use a mask, the transmission will drop to around 5 percent. However, if both use masks, the chance of transmission drops drastically to 1.5 percent.

"This is what convinces us that using a mask is the most appropriate way. Use a mask properly, cover your nose and mouth properly. This should be our common concern," Yuri explained.
