Residents Beaten By TNI Members In Buleleng Will Report To Komnas HAM

BULELENG - A DI man (24) who went viral on social media because he was beaten by members of the TNI in Sidetapa Village, Banjar District, Buleleng Regency, Bali, will report the incident to the National Human Rights Commission of Bali province.

"I also want to report to Komnas HAM so that it will be followed up by coordinating with my family," DI said when contacted Tuesday, August 24.

His party will also report to the police but are still negotiating with his family. "Yes, the plan to report is still being negotiated with the family," he said.

"If the village side does not accept that the village head is not respected, digituin (throwing) is not respected, because the Dandim is arrogant and angry, he gives an explanation to the community, not subtly but fiercely. Angry," said DI.

Kapenrem's explanation

Kapenrem 163/Wira Satya Major Arm Ida Bagus Putu Diana Sukertia asked all people who use social media to see in their entirety, not just a piece of the video circulating of a commotion between TNI officers and members of the public on social media.

"Responding to what is circulating on social media (short videos circulating) please see it in its entirety, not just a piece without seeing what the initial cause or process was," said Kapenrem 163/Wira Satya Major Arm Ida Bagus Putu Diana Sukertia, quoted by Antara, Monday, 23 August evening.

Sukertia explained that it was necessary to know the initial cause so as not to cause excessive speculation from the viral video.

Previously, it was known that a young man hit the head of Dandim 1609/Buleleng for refusing to swab antigens, thus spontaneously causing blows between other TNI officers and members of the public.

Due to this incident, the implementation of the antigen swab in Sidetapa Village was temporarily postponed until conditions allowed.

To avoid unwanted incidents, the Dandim 1609/Buleleng again sought mediation. However, because of the situation that the residents of Sidetapa Village had gathered, to anticipate unwanted events, mediation was resumed with the families of the perpetrators by involving the Sidetapa Village Head and community leaders so that the problems could be resolved amicably.

One and a half hours of mediation activities took place but the results have not yet been found. This is because the perpetrator's family, who felt they were victims of beatings, asked for time to carry out deliberations with the extended family.

"Because the situation hasn't allowed the Dandim 1609/Buleleng Rapid Antigen Swab Test activity to be stopped because the people of Sidetapa Village refuse to continue the activity," he said.

His party regretted this incident, because the TNI as part of the COVID-19 Task Force carried out its duties under the orders of the legislation or regulations currently in effect in a pandemic situation. In addition, due to requests from local village officials.

"With the action of controlling or disciplinary action, there are people who endanger the safety of the officers and even challenge and yell. Kapenrem emphasized that the response of the TNI apparatus to beating back the residents concerned was inseparable from the spontaneous attitude experienced by the Dandim, when trying to control and invite the public to be disciplined towards health protocols.
