Mayor Eri Cahyadi Launches New Suroboyo Bus Route, Payment Can Use Plastic Bottle Waste

SURABAYA - Surabaya Mayor Eri Cahyadi launched a new fleet and route for the Suroboyo Bus at Surabaya City Hall. This Suroboyo Bus applies an electronic payment system, up to paying with plastic bottles.

"This new fleet is now serving a new route from the Joyoboyo Intermodal Terminal (TIJ) - Major General Jono Soewojo," said Eri Cahyadi, on the sidelines of the Suroboyo Bus launch, Monday, August 23.

The Suroboyo Bus payment system has several options, passengers can use plastic bottle waste, can make non-cash (electronic) payments via a QRIS scan that is connected to Gopay, Ovo, and various other non-cash payment applications.

In addition, cash payments can also be made at certain places, such as a bottle exchange or minimarket with a top-up system.

"So, the payment is not only using plastic bottle waste, but also non-cash money," he said.

As for the payment fare, for general passengers it is only Rp. 5 thousand in one trip, for students it is Rp. 2,500. Of course, by showing a student card or student card that is still active.

Especially for Educators and Sub-District/Kelurahan Employees free of charge, or without being charged with tariffs by showing Employee ID Cards.

"God willing, we will prioritize passenger comfort. So, not doing maintenance on the engine, but also the beauty, health and fragrance on the bus will also be prioritized," he said.

Eri Cahyadi also ensures that on the Suroboyo Bus, there is a new facility, namely a bottle press machine that can be used by passengers, who pay with plastic bottle waste. After getting into the bus, the plastic bottle can be inserted into the press machine, then a travel ticket will be issued that can be used by passengers.

"It's easier than before," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Surabaya City Transportation Service (Dishub), Irvan Wahyudrajad, said that the financial management of Suroboyo Bus is now under the Regional Public Service Agency (BLUD). This is based on the BLUD Decree dated August 10, 2021.

"By becoming a BLUD, the red vehicle plates will automatically change to yellow plates. With the yellow plates, they will be able to serve routes and apply tariffs," he said.

According to him, the application of the tariff and the payment system have been regulated in Surabaya Mayor Regulation (Perwali) Number 56 of 2021, concerning the Surabaya Bus service tariff at the regional public service agency, the technical implementing unit of the public transportation management service at the Surabaya City Transportation Service.

"With this Perwali, the Suroboyo Bus payment system can be done in several ways, it can be with plastic bottle waste, non-cash through a QRIS scan, and can also be top-up, so this provides an alternative choice for payment," said Irvan.

Meanwhile, for the new route that will be taken by Suroboyo Bus, starting from the Joyoboyo Intermodal Terminal (TIJ)-Jl. Joyoboyo-Jl. Gunungsari-Jl. Raya Menganti Wiyung-Jl. Raya Wiyung-Jl. Swipe Unesa-PTC-Mayjend Jono Soewojo. Then for the return route, it will pass Major General Jono Soewojo-PTC-Jl. Swipe UNESA-Jl. Raya Menganti-Jl. Raya Wiyung-Jl. Gunungsari-Jl. Joyoboyo-Jl. Diponegoro-Turnback Jl. Wonokromo-Mayangkara Round-trip-Joyoboyo Intermodal Terminal.
