56 KPK Employees Who Did Not Pass The TWK, Including Novel Baswedan, Will Still Be Fired At The End Of October

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has confirmed that it will fire 56 employees who did not pass the National Insight Test (TWK) as a condition for changing their status to State Civil Apparatus (ASN) at the end of October.

Deputy Chairperson of the KPK, Nurul Ghufron, said that this step was still being taken even though the Supreme Court and the Constitutional Court had not yet issued a decision on the lawsuit for the implementation of the test.

"As we emphasize that the KPK is a law enforcer who carries out legal orders. The order is two years from the date of promulgation, October 2019 then ends in 2021. That is a legal order," Ghufron told reporters, Friday, August 20.

He also explained that the dismissal was carried out in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations, namely Article 69c of Law Number 19 of 2019 concerning the KPK where all employees are required to become ASN within a period of 2 years. This means that October 31 will be the last day for employees who do not pass the TWK, including Novel Baswedan, to work at the KPK.

Even so, he ensured that the appointment of 56 employees as ASN would be carried out if the decision at the Supreme Court and the Constitutional Court found Novel Baswedan et al could work again. However, as long as this decision has not been issued, tens of these employees will still be fired.

"So once again, the KPK is subject to the rules. If there are changes, we will follow them," he said.

For information, there were actually 75 employees who were declared not to have passed the TWK as a condition for the transfer of employee status. However, from this number there are 24 employees who can still be fostered and appointed as ASN with the condition that they must attend state defense training and national insight.

So, the total number of employees who will actually be fired will be 51 people. However, because there are 24 employees who refuse to participate in the training, the number of employees who will be fired has increased to 56 people.

The 56 employees include senior investigator Novel Baswedan, Chairman of the KPK Employee Forum who is also investigator Yudi Purnomo, Director of Anti-Corruption Campaign and Socialization of the KPK Giri Suprapdiono, and Head of the KPK Task Force Harun Al-Rasyid.
