BELITUNG - Belitung Regency, Bangka Belitung Islands announced the discovery of the Delta variant of the COVID-19 case.

"Of the six samples of nasopharyngeal swabs that were examined, five samples tested positive for the Delta variant of COVID-19," said Director of the Marsidi Judono Belitung Hospital, Hendra, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, August 18.

He said that previously the Belitung COVID-19 Task Force had sent swab samples or swabs of nasopharyngeal patients with confirmed COVID-19 for examination to find out about the Delta variant.

The examination was carried out at the Indonesian Solidarity Genomic Laboratory (GSI) in accordance with the provisions of the Ministry of Health, having its address at Jalan Kartini Cilandak, South Jakarta.

"The result is that from the six samples, five of them were confirmed positive for the Delta variant of COVID-19," he said.

Judono added that the five samples belonged to TNY (32), a resident of Air Merbau Village, whose condition had recovered, SYN (45), a resident of Air Ketekok Village, who was currently undergoing treatment at the Marsidi Judono Hospital in Belitung, and a two-month-old baby ALZ, a resident of Terong Village, who had died. world on July 15th.

In addition, he continued, the other samples belonged to Mrs. NAI (44) a resident of Paal Satu Village has passed away on July 20, 2021 and Mr. MRL (39), a resident of Air Saga village, passed away on July 22, 2021.
