Three Asabri Corruption Convicts Charged With Laundering Money Through Property To Gold Paintings

JAKARTA - Three defendants in the alleged corruption case in the management of PT. The Social Insurance of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Indonesia (Asabri) Persero was charged with money laundering to disguise profits by buying property to painting gold.

The three defendants charged with money laundering are Director of PT Jakarta Issuer Investor Relations Jimmy Sutopo, President Director of PT Hanson International Tbk. Benny Tjokrosaputro and President Commissioner of PT Trada Alam Minera Heru Hidayat.

"The defendant Jimmy Sutopo as the party that regulates and controls the investment of PT Asabri (Persero) with the aim of disguising the origin of the assets in the form of placing money in an account in the name of the defendant Jimmy Sutopo or through the account of another party, buying land and buildings in the name of the defendant and on behalf of the defendant. the name of the other party, spent by buying a motor vehicle, exchanging it in foreign currency, buying gold paintings and art items by the defendant," said public prosecutor at the Attorney General's Office Yadyn at the Jakarta Corruption Crime Court (Tipikor) quoted by Antara. , Monday, August 16.

In 2013 Jimmy Sutopo met with Benny Tjokrosaputro through Caroline Chandra Wilieanna and told Jimmy to help and manage the transactions of shares controlled by Benny Tjokro in the investment management of PT. Asabri by creating and using a stock account owned by Jimmy, an account in Jimmy's name or parties affiliated with Benny Tjokro and Jimmy Sutopo.

Benny's request was approved by Jimmy Sutopo so that Jimmy until 2019 after receiving the shares from Benny Tjokro through the "Received Free Of Payment" (RFOP) mechanism then transferred the shares to raise the price of the shares (binit up) through the Negotiation market mechanism for 373 transactions.

After the price of Benny Tjokro's shares increased, then Jimmy sold the shares to PT Asabri using either Jimmy's own account or an affiliated party controlled by Benny Tjokro and Jimmy Sutopo for a total transaction value of Rp781,153,675. 000.

As a result of Jimmy Sutopo's actions together with Benny Tjokrosaputro, Edward Seky Soeryadjaja, President Director of PT Eureka Prima Jakarta Tbk (LCGP) Lukman Purnomosid, Heru Hidayat, President Director of PT Asabri 2012 - March 2016 Major General Purn. From the state financial loss amounting to Rp22.788 trillion, Jimmy Sutopo obtained illegal profits from the management and investment control of PT. Asabri amounting to Rp.781,153,675,000.

Furthermore, during the period 2013 - 2019, the money Jimmy received as a result of corruption was hidden or disguised by:

- Placing into banking accounts in the name of Jimmy Sutopo and accounts of other parties, namely six accounts

- Jimmy Sutopo spent the proceeds of corruption by buying land and buildings, namely:

1. 1 unit of Ambasadde Residence Kuningan apartment, South Jakarta

2. 3 units of Raffles Apartment, Kuningan, South Jakarta

3. 1 apartment unit in District 8 Senopati Tower Infinity, South Jakarta

4. 1 house in Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta

5. 1 apartment unit South Hills, Setiabudi, South Jakarta

6. 1 apartment unit Season City Tower, Tambora, West Jakarta

7. 1 unit of West Vista Daan Mogot apartment, Cengkareng, West Jakarta

- Spending four-wheeled motorized vehicles in the form of:

1. 1 unit of Mercedes Benz sedan model metallic blue color

2. 1 unit of black Nissan Teana

3. 1 unit of black Roll Royce sedan type Phantom Coupe

- Jimmy Sutopo spent money from corruption crimes by buying 14 watches and jewelry, namely Cartier watches, Audemars Piguet, Patek Phillippe Geneve Nautilus, Vacheron Constantin Geneve, Antonie Preziuso Geneve, Hysek, Hublot, gold necklaces and silver rings

- Jimmy Sutopo exchanged into foreign currencies, namely the UAE dirham, Singapore dollar, Thai baht, Hong Kong dollar, Japanese yen, euro, Taiwan dollar, New Zealand dollar and Malaysian ringgit

- Jimmy Sutopo bought 36 gold paintings with the aim of selling them in an exhibition to disguise the origin of the wealth, with the following details:

Furthermore, for the defendant Heru Hidayat as the party that regulates and controls the investment management instruments of shares and mutual funds of PT Asabri (Persero) from 2016-2019 together with Joko Hartono Tirto and Piter Rasiman using companies that are included in the Maxima Group.

"From the state financial loss amounting to Rp. 22,788,566,482,083, the defendant Heru Hidayat obtained an illegal profit of Rp. 12,421,886,211,772," added the prosecutor.

Then since 2016-2019 the money that Herut Hidayat received from PT Asabri was hidden or disguised by:

1. Spend the proceeds for the property whose sale and purchase deed is in the name of another person, as follows:

1. 1 apartment unit at The Pakubuwono View Apartment in Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta

2. 2 plots of land and buildings with an area of 75m2 each at Permata Senayan Complex RUKAN-D Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta.

3. 1 plot of land with an area of 16,813 m2 in Kepincut village, Bangka Belitung Islands under the name of PT. A Thousand Tropical Islands.

2. Heru Hidayat bought 1 unit of black Lexus Type RX200T F-Sport 4x2 AT car

3. Purchased PCAR shares totaling 58,360,000 shares in a securities account in the name of PT. Alkausar Palace Nautical

4. Acquired ownership of the company, namely PT Trada Alam Minera, Tbk took over PT. Hanochem Shipping along with the company's assets in the form of a ship with the name LNG AQUARIUS Ship. While PT. Ricobana Abadi changed its articles of association several times until December 23, 2020 shares worth Rp1.225 trillion Wijaya Mulya

The third defendant, Benny Tjokrosaputro, received a profit of IDR 5,968,626,189,161 namely PT Asabri's investment funds from PT Asabri's stock and mutual fund transactions in the period 2012 - 2018.

Benny Tjokrosaputro, assisted by Wiwik Sukarno, tried to divert money from corruption crimes from investing in PT Asabri's shares and mutual funds by conducting mining business using PT Hanson Call Energy.

4. Benny Tjokro invested in other companies, namely buying 967,500 shares of PT Putra Aksi Laksana through PT Mandiri Mega Jaya

For their actions, the three defendants were charged as regulated and threatened with crime in article 3 or article 4 of the Republic of Indonesia Law No. 8 of 2010 concerning the Prevention and Eradication of the Crime of Money Laundering.
