Baduy Traditional Clothes Worn By Jokowi Are Usually Sold For IDR 240 Thousand

LEBAK - The traditional clothing of the Baduy community worn by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) at the Speech of the Joint Annual Session of the MPR, DPR, and DPD costs Rp. 240 thousand.

"The clothes worn by the President are normally sold by micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) of the Baduy community," said Head of Kanekes Village, Leuwidamar District, Lebak Regency, Banten, Jaro Saija, quoted by Antara, Monday, August 16.

He said that Bedouin SMEs in the interior of Lebak Regency would feel proud, because their handicrafts were worn by the number one person in Indonesia.

According to Jaro, the Baduy traditional dress has now become a public concern, after being worn by President Jokowi at the State Assembly.

President Jokowi is very concerned about the diversity of the Indonesian nation with its many cultural treasures.

Therefore, it is believed that the MSMEs of the Baduy community will rise after President Jokowi wears Baduy clothing.

Jaro said, the MSMEs of the Bedouin community were slumped due to the COVID-19 pandemic. "We believe that the use of clothing by the President can increase the turnover of MSME actors," he said.

According to him, the Bedouin MSME actors sell the traditional clothing to the President at a normal price for clothes and pants for Rp. 240 thousand, koja bags for Rp. 40,000, and lomar or headbands at Rp. 25 thousand.

Bedouin handicraft products are relatively cheap and affordable by the community, because, he said, there are also local residents who buy Baduy handicrafts.

Meanwhile, Amir, a Bedouin MSME actor, said that the clothes worn by President Jokowi were called campret clothes that the Baduy people use on a daily basis.

The clothes, he said, apart from being elegant, also had a philosophy of simplicity and love for nature.

"We hope that in the midst of this pandemic, Baduy MSME actors will make progress," he said.
