BANDA ACEH - The joint SAR team and five residents lost in the forests of Central Aceh finally survived and managed to get out of the forest area.

Head of the Central Aceh SAR Unit Muhammad Amri in Takengon said the second batch of joint SAR teams managed to find the positions of the five people lost in the forest and joined the first SAR team on Thursday afternoon.

"At 17.30 WIB (Thursday, August 12) 20 additional personnel departed at 12.15 WIB to report to the Main Command Post that they had successfully joined the main team and victims," said Muhammad Amri, quoted by Antara, Friday, August 13.

However, due to weather constraints, the team decided to spend the night at the location by setting up a tent and only to continue the journey home on Friday morning.

He said on Friday morning the entire team along with the lost victims managed to get out of the forest area safely.

"The joint SAR team and the victim arrived at the Main Command Post safely, then handed over to the family," said Amri.

The five lost victims were residents of Berawang Dewal Village, Jagong Jeget District, Central Aceh Regency, namely Nasri (46), Suherman (40), Jejen (52), M Samin (52), and Sukardi (40).

Previously, the five residents went to the White Sand Flower Tali Forest area in Jagong Jeget District on July 27, 2021, to look for fish in the river.
