ACEH - City Cleanliness and Beauty Environment Service (DLHK3) Banda Aceh uses floating cubes as an alternative to overcome or clean up river waste in the local city.
"We are improving the beauty of the city, including the cleanliness of the river, one of which is by installing floating cubes at two points, namely the Krueng Daroy River and at Krueng Doy Lampaseh," said Head of DLHK3 Banda Aceh Hamdani Basyah in Banda Aceh, Antara, Friday, August 13.
Hamdani said the installation of the floating cube was very effective because it made it easier for officers to clean and transport garbage.
"Because if we only use a net, the garbage in the middle is difficult for us to pick up, especially when the water is high, but if we use this cube, the officers can walk on it," he said.
Hamdani said, in addition to making it easier for officers to transport garbage in the river, this floating cube also functions to hold waste from reaching the estuary or shoreline. The way it works will be to hold the floating garbage and build up around the cube.
“The position automatically follows the water level, the material is very strong made of HDPE material with an additional net underneath. Able to hold garbage from upstream of the river so it doesn't flow into the sea," he said.
On this occasion, Hamdani also appealed to the people of the city not to litter, let alone to the river, because in addition to polluting it can also cause flooding.
Especially when it rains a lot, if the volume of garbage in the river increases, it is feared that it could cause flooding as well.
"We hope that people will increase their awareness in maintaining cleanliness," said Hamdani.
On various occasions, the Mayor of Banda Aceh, Aminullah Usman, has often reminded and asked residents to always preserve the river.
It is hoped that people's awareness to protect the environment will continue to increase, at least by no longer littering, let alone into rivers.
