Airlangga Asks Lampung Provincial Government To Optimize COVID-19 Case Tracking

BANDARLAMPUNG - Chairman of the Committee for Handling COVID-19 and National Economic Recovery Airlangga Hartarto asked the Lampung Provincial Government to optimize the tracking of COVID-19 cases.

"Ideally, tracing of COVID-19 cases, according to the Instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs, is that 1 positive person 15 people must be traced, but at this time we are doing first 1 positive person 10 people who are in close contact must be traced," said Airlangga Hartarto, who is also the Coordinating Minister for the Economy in Bandarlampung, quoted as saying Between, Friday, August 13th.

He said optimizing the tracking of COVID-19 cases, especially in Lampung, could speed up the discovery of positive confirmed cases of COVID-19 before the case spread widely.

"If there is an increase in testing and tracing, the number of cases will certainly increase because we find those who are exposed to COVID-19 faster, and this is good to do," he said.

According to him, with the expansion of tracking and testing for COVID-19, it is necessary to provide adequate rapid antigen test kits.

"If we implement this, it requires a lot of antigen test kits, and earlier the Lampung Provincial Government has agreed to increase the supply of antigen rapid test kits," he said.

He continued, increasing the tracking and testing of COVID-19 in addition to preventing the spread can also reduce the risk of death from COVID-19.

"The expansion of testing and tracing must also be balanced with the acceleration of vaccination and the availability of hospitals, things to suppress positive cases and deaths," he said.

Airlangga explained that in order to maintain the availability of beds for patient care or for close contacts, it is also necessary to create a centralized isolation by temporarily converting the training center, Hajj dormitory or other places.

"To maintain the number of available beds, ordinary hospitals need to be converted into COVID-19 hospitals, then training places, education and training, hajj dormitories can be made into centralized isolation places," he said.
