BANDUNG - The Bandung Polrestabes Traffic Unit (Satlantas) together with the Bandung City Transportation Service, West Java, have imposed odd-even blocking for vehicles that pass a number of points.

Bandung Traffic Police Head AKBP Rano Hadiyanto said the activity was carried out to suppress crowds in the city center because COVID-19 cases were currently declining and needed to be maintained.

"This step is a follow-up to the implementation of PPKM based on the existing Ministry of Home Affairs, then from Perwal 81, which finally issued a decision from the Transportation Agency regarding the odd-even system problem," said Rano on Jalan Asia Afrika, Bandung City, quoted by Antara, Friday, August 13.

The flow of passing vehicles will be checked for number plates one by one by officers. The odd-even application will be seen based on the last digit on the vehicle number plate.

According to AKBP Rano, the odd and even implementation will adjust based on the date on that day. For example, on Friday the 13th, only odd vehicles are allowed to pass, while even vehicles will be reversed.

Odd-even blocking for vehicles is carried out at two points. According to Rano, the two points were chosen because they are arterial routes and routes that are often used by vehicles.

There are also two points, namely on the Asia-Africa Road, starting from the Tamblong-Asia-African Intersection to the Otista-Asia-Africa Interchange. Then Jalan Ir Djuanda, starting from the Cikapayang intersection, to the Dago intersection.

The odd-even implementation is carried out at two times, namely at 08.00 WIB to 10.00 WIB, and at 16.00 WIB to 18.00 WIB.

Meanwhile, Head of the Bandung City Transportation Service Ricky Gustiadi said the odd-even implementation was still in the socialization and trial stage until August 16, 2021.

"We will adjust it to the central policy, this PPKM is until the 16th, so after that we will follow the policies of the central, provincial, and city governments," said Ricky.
