Police Examine The Head Of The West Mimika District Regarding The Deduction Of Cash Social Assistance For Underprivileged Residents

TIMIKA - Investigators from the Mimika Police Criminal and Investigation Unit Corruption Unit questioned the Mimika Barat District Head (Camat) ET regarding the case of withholding Cash Social Assistance (BST) funds for underprivileged residents in the area.

Head of Criminal Investigation Unit for Mimika Police, AKP Hermanto, said that during investigation, ET admitted that some of the BST funds from the Beneficiary Families (KPM) in seven villages in the West Mimika District had been used to finance the operational activities of the district (sub-district).

The policy of the West Mimika District Headquarters withholding BST funds from underprivileged residents is considered to violate the rules because.

"If the BST fund is allocated Rp. 500 thousand for one KPM, it must be given in full, not cut into pieces, that is not allowed and there are no rules," said Hermanto, quoted by Antara, Friday, August 13.

The Head of West Mimika District, ET, admitted that he received a BST allocation for his area of IDR 504 million for 12 stages with four distributions.

Of that amount, around Rp. 100 million was used to buy food (bama), fuel oil (BBM), transportation and security for village (village) officials.

While the remaining money of more than Rp. 300 million is not yet known. Investigators of the Mimika Police Criminal Corruption Crime Unit are still investigating what the remaining BST funds were used for.

"What is clear is that Rp300 million was the initial assumption that the goods were bought for personal use. We are still investigating this," said Hermanto.

Previously, investigators had examined five village heads in the West Mimika District. The village heads who have not been examined are the head of the Migiwiya village and the head of the Apuri village.

Apart from West Mimika, allegations of misappropriation of BST funds also occurred in Alama District and Central Mimika District.
