Dea Is Happy, Transgender From Depok Who Now Has An ID Card

JAKARTA - Dea (25), a transgender person from Depok, said that he was relieved that the DKI Provincial Population and Civil Registration Service (Dukcapil) helped to issue an Identity Card (KTP).

Now he already has an ID card that has been renewed so he can carry out several activities. One of them is following the COVID-19 vaccination.

Dea when met at the DKI Jakarta Dukcapil Office, Jalan S Parman, West Jakarta, admitted that she could not take vaccinations because she did not have an ID card. All he had was a receipt indicating that he was applying for an ID card at a government office in the Depok (West Java) area.

"Since last month I wanted to vaccinate, but I was told, 'Is there an ID card?'

The transgender, whose real name is Sumanto, had previously made an ID card at a government office in Depok. However, for several reasons, his ID card was never completed.

"The reason is that the blanks haven't been there since. I'm patiently waiting for the blanks to come out, after a year there aren't any," said Dea. After she has an ID card which is taken care of at the DKI Provincial Dukcapil Service, Dea feels more at ease in living her life. In the near future, Dea admitted that he will immediately follow the mass vaccination program in the area where he lives.

Previously, the Acting Head of the DKI Jakarta Dukcapil Office, Budi Awaludin, said that his party received five transgender people who wanted to take care of changing their ID cards in one day.

Those who want to change their identity can come to the office with their previous ID card and Family Card (KK).

Even an expired ID card can still be used as a condition for changing identity. "Their ID cards have not been extended, they can change photos and update their ID cards for life," he said.

Meanwhile, for transgender people who do not have a Population Identification Number (NIK), the Dukcapil will carry out identity checks in the population system.

"But if the data is not already in our system, then we will issue the NIK and we will record the personal data in question, this takes 24 hours," he said.

Later what will change in the ID card is only a photo of the face, while the description of the name and gender will not change. "If the gender does not change, if you want to change it, there must be a court decision," said Budi.

Budi ensures that services for transgender people will be carried out optimally so that they get the same rights as Indonesian citizens.
