JAKARTA - The Traffic Corps (Korlantas) plans to change the color of the Motorized Vehicle Number Sign (TNKB) belonging to individuals and legal entities or companies.

In the future, the TNKB, which used to have a black base with white writing, will change to the other way around.

"It's true, we do plan to make some changes to the TNKB," said Head of Sub-Directorate for STNK Korlantas Polri, Senior Commissioner Taslim Chairuddin, when confirmed, Friday, August 13.

The change in TNKB is also a follow-up to Police Regulation Number 7 of 2021 concerning Registration and Identification of Motorized Vehicles. In addition, the change is also to facilitate the prosecution of violations.

"Why is there a need for change, because since the beginning of 2014 we have designed and dreamed of being able to apply ETLE to electronically ticketing motorized vehicles that commit violations electronically, or using camera assistance and capturing and/or as evidence of the violation," said Taslim.

That way, the process of identifying vehicles that violate is even easier. Moreover, this is also to minimize the occurrence of errors in the identification process.

"We need to change the base color to white and black writing, so that the camera's error rate in identifying ranmors on the road is smaller," said Taslim.

Errors in the identification process are undeniably still common. For example, some numbers that resemble letters. Thus, changing the color of TNKB is considered quite necessary.

"If the writing is white and the basic color is black, then the error rate is high, 5 can be read S or vice versa, as well as between number 1 and letter I, and so on," said Taslim.
