BALIKPAPAN - Army Chief of Staff (KSAD) General TNI Andika Perkasa emphasized that new recruits of TNI-AD soldiers no longer use virginity tests or examinations for female soldiers.

"Since last May, it has started to be applied in the selection of NCOs at each Kodam," said General Andika after reviewing and talking with TNI-AD and US Army soldiers participating in the Garuda Shield Joint Exercise at the Combat Training Center (Puslatpur) Amborawang, Samboja, 40 km north of Balikpapan, East Kalimantan, quoted by Antara, Thursday, August 12.

NCO is a level where the candidate must be a high school graduate or equivalent, with an average age of 18 years, and graduate from undergoing education at the NCO Candidate School (Secaba) which lasts for 5 months at the Kodam Main Regiment (Rindam) in each Kodam. for female soldiers, after passing the selection at the Kodam, they will undergo Secaba at the Women's Army Corps Education Center (Pusdik Kowad) in Bandung. Secaba graduates will rank second sergeant.

Army Chief of Staff Andika continued the abolition of the virginity test not only for prospective soldiers, but also for prospective wives of male soldiers who apply for marriage permits.

"If our soldiers have chosen, so be it. What are we going to do," joked the Army Chief of Staff.

On the other hand, Kasad Andika emphasized the abolition of the rules for genital or genital examinations, especially the inside of the vagina and cervix (womb) for female soldiers. in part, is part of the changes for progress implemented by the Army. Previously, Army Chief of Staff General Andika Perkasa said that the test was considered no longer relevant to the objectives of military education.

On the other hand, tests such as color blindness, whether the candidate has a disease or disorder that can be life-threatening, are even more detailed and rigorous.

For the color blind test, for example, now in addition to using the Ishira test method, the Hardy-Rand-Rittler test is also added. With two color blind tests, partial color blindness, which is also common in Indonesia, can be detected.

With the relevant but stricter health checks, it is hoped that the candidate soldiers who have the best physical abilities (perfection, toughness) will be nurtured to become qualified soldiers.
