MEDAN - The Asahan Police have named 5 members of the North Labuhan Batu DPRD (Labura) as suspects for alleged drug abuse.

The Asahan Police Chief, AKBP Putu Yudha Prawira explained that of the 17 people who were arrested from a nightclub in Asahan Regency, Saturday, August 7, the police named 14 suspects.

"That's true, from 5 members of the DPRD included," Putu told reporters at the Asahan Police Headquarters, Thursday, August 12.

Putu revealed that the 17 people had undergone a marathon examination by the Asahan Police Narcotics Investigation Unit investigators.

"It can be concluded that today there are 14 people who have been named as suspects. Then, the other 3 people are not enough evidence," said Putu.

In this case, Putu said, his party involved the Asahan District Attorney and the North Sumatra Province National Narcotics Agency (BNN) with the aim of conducting an integrated assessment.

The police are still investigating the case. Police, he said, were after the supplier of the ecstasy pill.

"We are still developing the other perpetrators, conducting a marathon examination. Most likely there will be more suspects," he said.

The five members of the Labura DPRD are Jainal Samosir as Chairman of the Hanura Faction of the Labura DPRD and Givingto Gultom as a member of the Hanura Faction of the Labura DPRD.

Then, M Ali Borkat as Chairman of the PPP Labura DPC and a member of the Labura DPRD, Khoirul Anwar Panjaitan as a member of the Golkar Faction and Giat Kurniawan as a member of the PAN Faction. The results of the urine test for the five members of the Labura DPRD were positive for consuming drugs with the type of ecstasy pill.

Previously, the joint team of the COVID-19 Task Force, arrested 5 members of the Labura DPRD while playing clubbing at a nightclub at a five-star hotel in Kisaran, Asahan Regency, North Sumatra, Saturday, August 7 in the morning.

Initially, the Asahan District COVID-19 Task Force joint team received a report that an entertainment venue which was a hotel facility in Kisaran, continued to open its business in the midst of implementing PPKM in the area.
