Police Act Thugs Forcing Motorists To Buy Flags On The Road

CIANJUR – The video of the burglary action carried out by a number of thugs has prompted the Cianjur Police, West Java, to take action against the perpetrators of illegal levies and thuggery reported by road users in the southern region of Cianjur.

Cianjur Police Chief, AKBP Doni Hermawan said that his party received direct reports from motorists who crossed the Cidaun-Sindangbarang route, and received a video submission related to the forced sale of two young men under the pretext of the RI Anniversary committee.

"We have carried out further investigations regarding the report, we have even asked the police to carry out patrols and take firm action against the perpetrators of extortion and thuggish acts that are troubling road users in the southern region," said AKBP Doni, quoting Antara, Wednesday, August 11.

Doni appealed to residents and road users who feel uneasy to immediately report the matter to the nearest police station or directly to the Cianjur Police Headquarters.

"We will investigate two young men as perpetrators of extortion and acts of thuggery by forcibly selling small-sized flags to every passing motorist. They are forcing them to sell flags to motorists with ID numbers outside the city," Doni explained.

Meanwhile, information from residents on Jalan Raya Cidaun-Sindangbarang said that they just found out that there was an act of thuggery through a video that went viral on social media whose location they knew very well and entered the Sindangbarang District area. But they did not recognize the perpetrator's face because he was wearing a mask.

"As far as we know, the Karang Taruna or local youth did not ask for donations in the middle of the road, including selling flags. We only found out after seeing videos on social media related to extortion and thuggery actions carried out by two youths on Jalan Raya Cidaun-Sindangbarang," said Kang Dea.
