DEPOK – Two brothers were involved in the theft at a building shop in Sawangan, Depok. Sawangan police officers have so far arrested one of the perpetrators. The other suspect is still being chased.
"Yes, the theft of goods in a building shop. All items were taken away," explained the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Sawangan Police, Judge Dalimunte to reporters when confirmed Tuesday (10/8/2021).
The judge said the perpetrator was one of the old workers in the building shop. In carrying out the action, the perpetrator was assisted by his younger brother to take a number of items from his boss's shop.
"The perpetrators were two people. So both of them did that. But his sister is still being chased until now. All goods are sold," said Hakim.
The judge explained the chronology of this theft. Initially, the shop owner asked the perpetrator to deliver the ordered goods to his customer's house. After a long time, customers complained that the goods they bought did not arrive.
After checking into the store, it turned out that the truck used to deliver goods was gone.
"It was found out, how come (the perpetrator) wasn't there. He was told to deliver stones. They've been given money for the road, how come the truck isn't there, there's no motorbike, there's no TV," he explained.
The owner of the building shop has contacted the employee but has not received a response. After looking at the CCTV in the shop, it turned out that the perpetrator was seen carrying a number of his boss's belongings.
"The perpetrator was an employee of the victim. When he took it, it was seen on CCTV. This was theft because he really wanted to go home," he said.
The judge explained that his party had secured the perpetrator at his parents' house in his hometown, Padang, West Sumatra.
For his actions, the perpetrators were charged with Article 363 of the Criminal Code regarding theft with a weight with a maximum penalty of 7 years in prison.
