Jogja Prepares Anticipation Of PPKM Extension Until The End Of August

YOGYAKARTA - The Yogyakarta City Government has prepared a number of strategies and policies to anticipate if the Implementation of Restrictions on Community Activities (PPKM) is extended until the end of August.

"The extension of the PPKM is carried out every week. However, it will be very difficult to prepare a new plan every week. It is better to make a plan with a monthly period. This is our anticipation," said Yogyakarta Mayor Haryadi Suyuti, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, August 10.

According to him, the City of Yogyakarta has prepared a plan to deal with the PPKM policy until the end of August, one of which is to balance efforts to handle COVID-19 cases and the movement of the economy in the city.

"Morally, the City of Yogyakarta is ready to run PPKM until the end of August. Of course, this is based on various things, including in the economic sector," continued Haryadi.

Meanwhile, the handling of cases is carried out by intensifying vaccinations for residents of Yogyakarta City while still limiting the mobility of residents both from the village and in public places.

"Restrictions on community interaction and mobility are very important. Because when interacting with other people, there is the potential for transmission," he said.

The socialization of the health protocol, 5M, continued Haryadi, is also still being carried out to community groups in the region with the hope of forming awareness from the community to be disciplined in carrying out health protocols.

Until the end of August, he is also optimistic that the vaccination achievement in Yogyakarta City will be able to reach 70 percent.

"In order to make it happen, the most important thing is to ensure the adequacy of the vaccine with the availability of human resources or vaccinators. For the people of Yogyakarta, I think they already have high enthusiasm for vaccination," he said.

The city of Yogyakarta also has a Vaccination Acceleration Task Force to ensure that the vaccination target at the end of August can be realized.
