Mayor Eri Cahyadi: Hospital BOR In Surabaya Drops To 70 Percent

SURABAYA - Surabaya Mayor Eri Cahyadi claims the Bed Occupancy rate (BOR) in hospitals in Surabaya has gradually decreased to 70 percent. Previously, the BOR of hospitals in Surabaya was at 100 percent.

"Now the BOR for hospitals in Surabaya has dropped to around 70 percent," said Eri Cahyadi in Surabaya, Tuesday, August 10.

Eri Cahyadi said that the decline in hospital BOR was evidenced by the decrease in COVID-19 patients being treated in hospitals, both referral hospitals and emergency and field hospitals.

For example, patients undergoing isolation at the shooting range hospital (RSLT) began to decrease to 30, previously around 100 more.

"Now the conditions in the RSLT have begun to decrease, even yesterday there were only 30 people. At the Bung Tomo GOR Emergency Hospital, it was also reduced. We hope that all of them are empty," he said.

Despite the decline, Eri Cahyadi still asked all parties not to be careless and maintain the health protocols (prokes). According to him, the discipline of key processes is safe to avoid the spread of COVID-19.

"Therefore, we all still have to maintain the prokes. Because when the health protocols are maintained, the rate of decline will drop drastically. However, this decline in cases should not make us careless," he said.

Even though the BOR has decreased, Eri Cahyadi stated that emergency hospitals will still be operated, both emergency and field hospitals, as well as health homes in every kelurahan. The goal is to anticipate if there is a spike in cases like before.

"This healthy house is not for when we are attacked by shock and we just stand up. But it will stand forever. So, God willing, healthy houses will still exist. So when we don't ask, when there is disease, this COVID-19 has a new variant. We are ready like today ," he said.
