JAKARTA - The Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) has stopped issuing marriage cards in physical form. Starting this month, the Ministry of Religion launched a digital marriage card. This was stated by the Head of Sub-Directorate for Quality, Infrastructure, and Information Systems of the Directorate General of Islamic Community Guidance, Jajang Ridwan.

Jajang said, digital marriage cards are a new service from the Ministry of Religion to make it easier for bridal couples to bring marriage documents. The presence of marriage documents in digital form makes the bride and groom do not have to bother taking them on a trip.

"Starting August 2021, the Ministry of Religion will no longer issue physical marriage cards. We will spend the remaining physical marriage cards," said Jajang in a statement quoted from the Ministry of Religion's official website, Tuesday, August 10.

Jajang said that the change of physical marriage cards to digital ones was stated in the Letter of the Directorate General of Islamic Community Guidance B-2361/Dt.III.II/PW.01/07/2021 regarding the Use of Digital Marriage Cards. This letter was signed by Plt. Director of KUA and Sakinah Family Development Directorate General of Islamic Community Guidance, Muhammad Adib Machrus.

Digital marriage card services can be accessed at all Offices of Religious Affairs (KUA) which have been integrated with the Marriage Management Information System (Simkah Web).

To get this service, the bride and groom must fill out a marriage registration form via Simkah Web at www.simkah.kemenag.go.id.

"The prospective bride and groom must fill in complete data, including phone numbers and email addresses that are still active," he said.

After the bride and groom have completed the marriage contract, a digital marriage card will be sent via email and a WhatsApp number that has been registered via Simkah (while still via email) in the form of a link or 'link'.

In addition, digital marriage cards can not only be owned by newly married couples, but also for couples who have been married for a long time. The management process does not require many administrative requirements.

The stages of submitting a digital marriage card for old couples include:

1. Come to the Office of Religious Affairs where you get married.

2. Marriage data is entered into the Marriage Management Information System (Simkah) web.

3. The digital marriage card will be sent via email in the form of a soft file.
