COVID-19 Cases Increase Outside Java-Bali Island, Jokowi Reminds Regional Heads Of Community Mobility Brakes

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) reminded regional heads outside Java-Bali to put the brakes on community mobility. This must be done because the surge in COVID-19 cases is now shifting outside Java-Bali.

"If it's a big case like that, people's mobility must be put on hold. First, the most important thing is that the Governor must know, the Pangdam, the Kapolda must all know. This means that human mobility must be braked for at least two weeks," said Jokowi while leading the Development Evaluation Meeting. and Follow-up PPKM Level 4, Saturday, August 7th.

Furthermore, the former Mayor of Solo also asked the TNI Commander to intensify testing and tracing so that those who had close contact with people who were confirmed positive for COVID-19 could be found and separated. "Respond quickly because this is related to speed," Jokowi ordered.

"Otherwise, people who have positive cases have gone everywhere, spread everywhere. Find them immediately. The second is testing and tracing, once again, immediately found. Tested found, traced he contacted with, that's the second ," he added.

Finally, President Jokowi ordered COVID-19 patients to be immediately taken to a centralized isolation area. He also asked regional heads to prepare centralized isolation places in their respective regions by utilizing public facilities such as sports buildings, halls, and schools.

In this preparation, Jokowi ordered PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono to help provinces that must respond quickly to additional cases such as North Sumatra, Riau, West Sumatra and East Nusa Tenggara. President Jokowi said that the province experienced a spike in COVID-19 cases over the past two weeks.

"Also involve the IDI (Indonesian Doctors Association) as the main door in treating patients. Maybe in Java there is someone who uses telemedicine, but if not, it's okay by telephone. This is to reduce the number of deaths," he said.

Jokowi also requested that the delivery of COVID-19 vaccinations be accelerated outside Java-Bali. He ordered regional heads to immediately distribute vaccine stocks if they had received them.

"Don't let the vaccine stop for a day or two, directly inject it into the community. After that, ask the (government, ed) center again," he said.

"Don't keep vaccines in stock for too long, either at the health office or in hospitals and health centers. Order everything immediately, inject immediately. Because this speed will also provide protection to our people. I will continue to follow these daily figures," he concluded.
