Coordinating Minister Luhut Asks Malioboro Visitors To Show Vaccine Cards

YOGYAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Menko Marves) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan as the Coordinator of the Java-Bali PPKM requested the implementation of a vaccine card ownership requirement for every visitor to Malioboro, Yogyakarta.

"Later on Malioboro road (fully opened) we will ask (visitors) to bring vaccine cards. That is for the safety of all of us," said Luhut while reviewing the isolation shelter at Rusunawa Bener, Tegalrejo, Yogyakarta City, quoted by Antara, Friday, August 6.

He hopes that by September 2021 all residents in DIY have received an injection of the COVID-19 vaccine.

"We will be able to get almost 100 percent of the vaccine later in September throughout Yogyakarta. So tell our parents who have not yet been vaccinated," he said.

Luhut's request regarding the application of a vaccine card as a condition for entering Malioboro was also conveyed after reviewing the implementation of the COVID-19 vaccination at the Sleman Regency Regional Secretariat Office complex, Friday, August 6.

According to him, vaccination has reached all residents in Malioboro. For that reason, according to him, people from outside who want to enter the Malioboro area must also be vaccinated.

"Earlier, as (as stated) Pak Sultan in Malioboro has all been vaccinated, I saw yesterday. Now I want to slowly make people who enter Malioboro have to have a vaccine card, a vaccine card. Enter Malioboro using this," he said.

According to Luhut, in the future after PPKM, each party must be able to adapt. Therefore, he planned that only people who had been vaccinated could enter tourist attractions or shopping centers.

"So later you go to a restaurant without this (vaccine card) being refused or shopping without it is rejected because this is for the safety of all of us," he said.

Regarding this, Yogyakarta Deputy Mayor Heroe Poerwadi said that the use of vaccine cards will not only apply to the Malioboro area.

"Tomorrow we will also make something different when the PPKM is over so that people who enter Yogya City bring a vaccine letter," he said.

According to him, the application of the requirements for ownership of a vaccine card is basically in line with the requirements for out-of-town travelers.

"Traveling from one city to another requires carrying a vaccine card and swab. So it's not only in Malioboro that automatically people who enter Yogya City also show it (vaccine card)," said Heroe.

Regarding the technical supervision in the field, according to Heroe, the vaccine card will be checked at every entrance to the city of Yogyakarta.

"Especially for buses, we will arrange them in such a way that we check the completeness of the vaccine documents," said Heroe Poerwadi.
