Reading PSI's Attitude On Charlie Wijaya Reporting Bintang Emon To Kominfo

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) finally acknowledged that Bintang Emon reporter Charlie Wijaya was a cadre. Previously, PSI denied that Charlie Wijaya was a party cadre.

Political researcher from the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI), Aisah Putri Budiarti, said that there were two reasons why PSI changed its statement regarding Charlie's status in the party.

First, the issue of reporting on Bintang Emon is getting the attention of many parties. Moreover, the problem leads to the element of freedom of expression. He said, PSI also provided support to Emon.

However, suddenly there was a Charlie Wijaya report to the Directorate General of Informatics Applications, Ministry of Communication and Informatics, Republic of Indonesia who claimed to be a PSI cadre. So, this step is against the party.

"Many parties consider Bintang Emon as a victim of restrictions on freedom of opinion, and PSI itself has stated this. This reporting step is counterproductive to the public view, including PSI itself," Putri told VOI, Tuesday, June 16.

Second, the report was made without communicating with the party, but on personal behalf. So, PSI chose not to recognize it as a cadre.

"The reporting is done in the personal name, so it cannot be linked directly to the party even though the individual is a party cadre. Especially if it turns out that the cadre's actions are different from the party's attitude," said Putri.

Defense of the party

Meanwhile, the previous PSI DPP did not admit that Charlie Wijaya was the party's management and candidate. However, after re-checking, there was a cadre named Charlie Wijaya.

However, PSI emphasized that what Charlie Wijaya was doing was not representing the party. But in a personal name. Thus, the report has nothing to do with the party.

"What is being done has nothing to do with PSI and PSI has never had any intention of reporting Bintang Emon. We have never even discussed this," said the board of the DPP PSI, Sigit Widodo.

In the future, his party will discuss the steps taken by Charlie. "We first discussed internally, the extent to which his actions violated the rules within PSI. But what is clear is that this is not PSI's attitude at all and Charlie cannot act on behalf of PSI in his actions," he said.

He emphasized that PSI has firmly stated that the Emon Star video is the right as a citizen to criticize. "PSI is focusing on programs to help the community during the pandemic and is not interested in getting into this case at all," said Sigit.
