Ex-Corruption Convict Emir Moeis Becomes Commissioner Of PT Pupuk Iskandar Muda, KPK Asks To Deposit Wealth Report
KPK/ANTARA

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has asked Izedrik Emir Moeis, a former convict of a corruption case, to report his wealth. This report must be made after he was appointed as PT Pupuk Iskandar Muda since last February 18.

"We urge (Emir Moeis, ed) to fulfill this obligation (for reporting on LHKPN, ed)," Acting KPK Spokesperson for Prevention Ipi Maryati Kuding told reporters, Friday, August 6.

He explained that the Emir last reported his wealth to the KPK on January 26, 2010 while still sitting as a member of the DPR for the 2009-2014 period. Therefore, the KPK asked him to immediately carry out his obligations as a public official.

"After being appointed to a public office, he is bound by the obligation to resubmit his LHKPN to the KPK. This is also reinforced in the internal regulation of PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) which requires officials in the environment and their subsidiaries to report their assets," explained Ipi.

For information, Emir Moeis is a former prisoner in the bribery case for the construction of the Tarahan Steam Power Plant or PLTU, Lampung. In 2014, the PDI-P politician was sentenced to 3 years in prison and a fine of Rp. 150 million, subsidiary to 3 months in prison.

The judge assessed that Emir Moeis was proven to have received a gift or promise from the United States Alstom Power Incorporate consortium and Japan's Marubeni Incorporate amounting to US$357,000 while serving as Deputy Chairman of the House Energy Commission.

The money was given as a gift because he made the Alstom Power consortium the winner of the Tarahan Steam Power Plant (PLTU) project, Lampung, in 2004.
