Director Of PT ASA Has Become A Suspect, But Why Hasn't He Been Arrested?

JAKARTA - The West Jakarta Metro Police have yet to arrest the Director of PT ASA with the initials YP for health reasons. Whereas YP has been named a suspect by the West Jakarta Metro Police Satreskrim investigation team.

Deputy Head of the West Jakarta Metro Police Criminal Investigation Unit (Wakasat) Adjunct Commissioner of Police (AKP) Niko Purba said that YP's health was the reason for not being detained.

"After being examined, the suspect said he had a health problem that needed treatment," Niko told reporters, Friday, August 6.

Although not detained, the West Jakarta Metro Police Satreskrim investigator team has coordinated with the West Jakarta Metro Police Dokkes unit to carefully examine YP's health. This is to convince investigators regarding the truth of YP's health condition.

"We are still waiting for the results of YP's medical examination at the West Jakarta Police Dokkes section," he concluded.

Previously reported, the West Jakarta Metro Police Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) appointed S as the commissioner of PT ASA on suspicion of stockpiling COVID-19 drugs in Kalideres, West Jakarta.

Deputy Head of the West Jakarta Metro Police Criminal Investigation Unit (Wakasat) Adjunct Police Commissioner (AKP) Niko Purba explained that the PT ASA commissioner with the initials S was named a suspect and investigators began to investigate.

During the examination, S was examined by a team of investigators from the West Jakarta Metro Police Satreskrim from 10 am to 5 pm with 71 questions.

"After yesterday's investigation, we arrested S, the commissioner of PT ASA," said Niko when confirmed on Thursday, August 5, evening.

For his actions, Niko continued, S was charged with multi-layered articles related to hoarding COVID-19 drugs. "S was charged with Article 107 in conjunction with Article 29 paragraph 1 of Law No. 7 of 2014 concerning trade," he concluded.
