Demands 16 Years In Prison For The Perpetrators Of The Stabbing Of The Former Minister Of Political, Legal And Security Affairs Wiranto

JAKARTA - The stabber of the former Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Wiranto, Syahrial Alamsyah alias Abu Rara was demanded 16 years in prison.

Abu Rara was the person who stabbed Wiranto with a kunai at Menes Square, Pandeglang, Banten, on Thursday, October 10, 2019.

Apart from Abu Rara, there were two other defendants who were charged with imprisonment, namely Abu Rara's wife, Fitria Diana alias Fitria Andriana, and Samsudin alias Abu Basilah.

Fitria was sentenced to 12 years in prison for participating in attacking the Menes police chief, Kompol Dariyanto with the same weapon. Meanwhile, Samsudin, was sentenced to 7 years in prison.

Unlike Abu Rara and Fitria, Samsudin was charged with committing evil conspiracy, preparing, experimenting or assisting in acts of terrorism.

West Jakarta District Court spokesperson Eko Aryanto said the trial for reading the charges against the Wiranto stabbing case was read out on Thursday, June 11.

"The next trial will be on Thursday 18 June with a pledoi (defense) event from the Legal Counsel to the defendant and continued with the reading of the verdict," said Eko in his written statement, Tuesday, June 16.

Criminal law expert from Al-Azhar University Indonesia, Suparji Ahmad, said that the charges against the accused stabbing former Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Wiranto were correct.

"If you look at the planning side, the intention (the charges) can be said to be right. Because maybe the perpetrator had planned it, so then this is burdensome for the charges concerned," said Suparji when contacted by VOI via telephone.

However, Suparji criticized the charges by comparing them with Novel Baswedan's trial. According to him, the two defendants in the case of persecution of Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) investigators, namely Ronny Bugis and Rahmat Kadir, should be able to take more than one year.

"Why, because in the Novel case, the persecution caused his eyes to not be able to see. Meanwhile, Mr. Wiranto, thank God, could be treated and the wound was not dangerous. So if seen from the comparison it is not quite right," he said.

Even so, he asked all parties to respect the prosecutors' demands in each of these cases. However, he said, all parties should get the same justice before the law, equality before the law.

"It is not allowed to distinguish the treatment of a certain person so that he gets justice while others do not. This means that equality before the law must be upheld," he said.

Remembering the Wiranto stabbing incident

Previously, when he was still the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, Wiranto was the victim of an attack when he visited Menes Square, Pandeglang, Banten, Thursday, October 10, 2019. He went there to fulfill an invitation to a public lecture in front of approximately 1,000 students. This stabbing incident occurred when Wiranto arrived at the location.

The perpetrators were two people, one man was the executor of the attack, while the other was a woman who was the wife of the executor. The executor acts using scissors to attack Wiranto.

The attack also hit two other people, namely Kapolsek Menes Kompol Dariyanto, who suffered stab wounds to the back, and Wiranto's aide, Fuad, who was stabbed in the left chest.

The male perpetrator was named Syahril Alamsyah, where he was born in Medan, August 24, 1988, having his address at Jalan Syahrial VI No 104 LK, Tanjung Mulia Hilir Village, Medan Deli District, Medan City, North Sumatra.

Meanwhile, Fitri Andriana Binti Sunarto, the place of birth of Brebes, May 05 1998, Islam Religion, the address is Sitanggai Village, Karangan District, Brebes Regency. These two people rented a house in Kampung Sawah, Menes District, Pandeglang Regency.

Videos and photos recording the event were milling about on social media. From there it was discovered that Wiranto had just gotten out of the car and was attacked. The attack occurred while Wiranto was approaching the residents to shake hands. He, who was wearing a green batik and skullcap, had fallen as a result of the attack.

Wiranto was taken to the nearest hospital. First, he was taken to the Medical Center, Menes, Pandeglang. Then he was referred to the Pandeglang Regional General Hospital. Later, he was taken to the Gatot Subroto Army Hospital, Jakarta for intensive care. He received two stab wounds under the stomach.
