Update On COVID-19 As Of June 15: Specimen Testing Decreased Due To Laboratory Holidays

JAKARTA - Spokesperson for COVID-19 Handling Achmad Yurianto (Yuri) said the number of specimens examined had decreased. From Sunday, June 14 to Monday, June 15 at 12.00 WIB the number of specimens examined was 8,776.

This figure has decreased considerably compared to the previous days. As of Sunday, the number of specimens examined reached 18,760. Meanwhile, on Saturday, June 13, the number of specimens examined reached 16,574.

Yuri explained that the significant decline occurred because some laboratories were closed on Sundays even though the government asked them to keep working.

"We have tried our best so that all laboratories do not stop operating even though it is a holiday. However, it turns out that several laboratories in hospitals, and several laboratories in universities are still implementing holidays," Yurianto said in a press conference broadcast on account. He added, from 8,776 specimens examined, there were an additional 1,017 positive cases. So, if the total accumulated cases of COVID-19 in Indonesia currently reach 39,294 people.

Yuri said that East Java was still the first contributor to new cases of COVID-19 with 270 new cases, although at the same time, this region also reported 62 patients who had recovered.

Meanwhile, the second province that recorded the most new cases of COVID-19 was DKI Jakarta.

"DKI Jakarta reported 142 new cases although 106 cases were reported. Then, Central Java reported 116 new cases and 36 people recovered," he said.

Then, another region that reported an increase in positive cases was South Sulawesi. This province has reported the addition of 101 new cases and a total of 142 people recovered.

Finally, South Kalimantan reported that there were 66 new confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 and 16 patients who were declared cured.

"We have coordinated with the local health office, this addition is due to massive examinations of aggressive contact tracing being carried out," he explained.

"All cases of positive contact with people we care for, we do tracing and this is what is followed up by testing," added Yurianto.

Apart from these five provinces, there are 19 other provinces that reported the addition of new cases under 10 people. Then, there are 11 provinces that have absolutely no positive cases of COVID-19 in their regions.

Regarding the number of recovered patients, said Yurianto, currently the number has reached 592 people. So that if the total is accumulated to reach 15,123 people.

According to him, the increasing number of recovered patients gave optimism that this virus could be cured. Meanwhile, for patients who died, currently the number has increased by 64 people. So that the total accumulation reached 2,198 people.

Currently, the number of people under surveillance (ODP) is 36,744 people. Meanwhile, the number of patients under surveillance (PDP) was 13,649 people.
