Sri Mulyani Can't Explain The Term Of Leveled PPKM, PKS: If The Minister Is Confused, Especially The People!

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of the PKS Sukamta faction, highlighted the statement of the Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani who admitted that it was not easy to explain about PPKM at the level to the public. According to Sukamta, this actually shows that the changes in terms that have been carried out by the government have proven confusing. Even government officials themselves are made difficult to explain, let alone the people.

"Maybe only in Indonesia the terms often change, from PSBB, then the New Normal discourse, then changing PPKM, there are Micro PPKM, Emergency PPKM and level PPKM. No wonder some experts are worried that Indonesia could fall into a pandemic trap, because from the beginning the government's policies were confusing and without a clear direction as seen from the changing of terms," Sukamta told reporters, Wednesday, August 4.

The member of Commission I of the DPR suspected that the government's confusion was because from the start it did not use the guidelines contained in Law no. 6 of 2018 concerning Health Quarantine. The law states that there are two major approaches to controlling the outbreak, regional quarantine and large-scale social restrictions (PSBB).

"This gives the impression that the government has changed the term which is currently called level PPKM because it wants to avoid the quarantine policy stipulated in the law, because it does not want to pay compensation to residents," said Sukamta. "On the other hand, the government is always vacillating between economic interests and health, eventually many hospitals have collapsed, the number of deaths is still high, and the economy has collapsed again," he continued.

Sukamta hopes that the government will use the law as a guide. Because he said, compliance with regulations made during the easing period, the results will definitely be better than a momentary decision when conditions are bad.

"We certainly don't want more people to become victims of the pandemic. The government should no longer make confusing terms and policies, which could lead to a pandemic trap," he said.
