PALEMBANG - The South Sumatran Police have sent home four family members of the late Akidi Tio after undergoing an intensive examination by General Criminal Investigation investigators. Akidi Tio's son is being questioned about the Rp2 trillion aid for handling COVID-19.

According to Antara, the four people who were sent home after the examination were the daughter of the late Heriyanti, the son-in-law of Rudi Sutadi, the grandson of the late Akidi, and the family's personal doctor, Dr. Hardi Darmawan.

The four were escorted by members of the General Criminal Investigation Department from the Palembang branch of Bank Mandiri at around 13.00 WIB using a black minibus.

After nine hours of questioning at around 22.00 WIB, the three people left the South Sumatra Police Headquarters using a white Mitsubishi Expander car escorted by the police back to their home in the Jalan Tugu Mulyo area, Ilir Timur 1 District, Palembang City.

Meanwhile, Dr. Hari Darmawan first left the South Sumatra Police Headquarters using a black minibus at around 20.20 WIB.

Until now there has been no official statement from the police regarding the latest status of the four people after an investigation.

Head of Sub Directorate 3 Jatanras Ditreskrimum Polda Sumsel Police Commissioner CS Panjaitan did not comment much because it was not his authority to make statements.

"It's not my authority, there will be an official release later," he said as he released Heryanti and her brother into the car.

Previously, the South Sumatra Police Chief Inspector General Eko Indra Heri asked that the process be handed over to the police because the General Criminal Investigations Investigator is still asking for their information.

"Just think positively, regarding the process later, the team is currently working," he said.

The Kapolda emphasized that in this case he was only trying to make an effort to distribute the kindness of one of the residents who wanted to help deal with COVID-19 to the people of South Sumatra.

"I didn't expect anything. I just thought positive (until now)," he said.

He emphasized that the presence or absence of these funds did not at all dampen the efforts of the South Sumatra Regional Police together with the South Sumatra Provincial Government and other stakeholders in dealing with COVID-19 because overcoming COVID-19 is currently one of the priorities that must be resolved.

"I have good intentions, there are people who want to donate to South Sumatra through me, so I distribute them, please note that even if there are funds, they are not for me, they are only entrusted to the community," he said.

Meanwhile, the Director of General Criminal Investigation at the South Sumatra Police, Kombes Hisar Siallangan, said the two were being investigated for questioning regarding the certainty of the Rp2 trillion money because until now the money had not been available, even though the disbursement was due.

"The money should have been there today, but when we waited until 14.00 WIB the money was not in their Bank Mandiri Current Account, so we called them for clarification," he said.

According to him, the status of the two people has not been confirmed because until now the General Criminal Investigation team is still investigating the information they provided.

"We are still investigating the whereabouts of the funds and where they came from, whether from abroad or from where, we don't know yet," he said.

There is also the motive for providing this fantastic fund purely as a personal wish from the family of the late Akidi Tio to help and relieve the people of South Sumatra who have been affected by COVID-19.

"So far the motive is good personally to help, hopefully in the near future there will be a solution," he said.
