Denies Beating Vaccine Participating Students At GBK, Public Relations: Just A Reflex, He Was Beaten

JAKARTA - Head of the Public Relations Division of the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) Complex Management Center (GBK) Dwi Putranto admitted that there was an incident of beatings by several security guards against vaccine participants at the Bung Karno Stadium (GBK) Senayan, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta. But he denied that there was a beating at the scene.

Furthermore, Dwi said, the beating incident occurred because the security guard tried to defend himself. He said the student named Zaelani (26) tried to attack first.

Dwi said that the riot started when Zaelani arrived at Post V GBK on Friday afternoon. To the security guard on duty, Zaelani explained that he was going to Istora Senayan to ask about the certificate of the second dose of vaccine that he had not received.

The security guard has explained that at Istora Senayan there is no vaccination activity. The vaccination activity that day was only available at the Tennis Indoor and only vaccination participants were allowed to enter.

The security guard also forbade Zaelani to enter the GBK complex because of the rules regarding the Implementation of Emergency Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM).

"Finally, he got emotional with this visitor. He wanted to try to fight against our officers. Our officers just reflected and he was hit," said Dwi when confirmed by VOI reporters, Monday, August 02. by one security guard. After the beating, three security guards took Zaelani to the post to solve the problem.

"So it's not a beating. At the post there is nothing else to do. There are only 3 security guards at the location. There was no abuse," said Dwi.

Although the victim suffered an injury to the temple, Dwi said the wound was a reflex from the security guard.

"There was no persecution. At the post the security guard just asked if he wanted to continue or what. If he wanted to continue, he was brought to the police post. But at that time he preferred peace," he admitted.

Although there was no beating, Dwi ensured that the security guard who had beaten him would still be processed and would be subject to sanctions in accordance with applicable regulations.

"The security guard has been asked for information. Related sanctions will be given by the security vendor," he said.
