Vaccine Participating Students At GBK Battered Beaten By Security Guards, Dragged To Posts And Threatened Not To Report To Police

JAKARTA - Zaelani (26), a university student, was beaten by a number of security guards at the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) vaccination center, Senayan, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta.

A member of the Indonesian Legal Aid Institute (LBH) for Education, Eka Zulkarnaen as well as the victim's legal assistant, said the incident took place last Friday, July 30.

According to Eka, the incident began when Zaelani came to Post V at the vaccine booth at GBK to ask for the second stage of vaccine certification, which he had not received. He came to the outlet after calling the vaccination hotline 199.

"After calling 119, they were directed to ask for the second vaccine site, namely at GBK Pos V," said Eka when contacted, Monday, August 2.

When Zaelani came to Pos V, the security officers at the location actually directed the victim to come to Pos II. However, after being visited, Pos II turned out to be only for online motorcycle taxi drivers, aka ojol. Finally, Zaelani returned to post V and protested to the security guard.

"According to the victim's statement, he did not have harsh words. Only the intonation was loud. He just wanted to meet internally in order to get clearer information," said Eka.

However, the security guard did not accept Zaelani's attitude. He called another security officer by communicating via HT.

"There were 6 friends who came. The conditions were getting hotter, finally there was a beating there. Even though from the beginning this victim had never played physically, only for arguments. The victim had run away, but continued to be chased and was eventually taken to the post," he said.

Arriving at the security post, the victim was intimidated not to report the case to the police. "There was intimidation at the post to sign the peace letter, and the victim complied with the request because he was under pressure," said Eka.

However, on the next day or on Saturday 31 July, the victim still decided to report the case to the police. Eka accompanied the victim to report this case to the Central Jakarta Metro Police.

Head of the Central Jakarta Metro Police Criminal Investigation Unit, Kompol Wisnu Wardhana, confirmed that the victim had reported the incident of abuse on Saturday, July 31, with the number: LP/B/997/VII/2021/SPKT/Central Jakarta Metro Police/Polda Metro Jaya.

"We have received the victim's report last Saturday. Currently it is still under investigation. We are examining witnesses and CCTV recordings related to the incident. The identity of the perpetrator is known, we are still investigating. The motive is temporary due to misunderstanding. The victim has been questioned," said Vishnu. .
