Anticipating KRL Overcrowding, DKI Pemprov Operates 50 Free Buses

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has prepared 50 free buses to anticipate the density of passengers at KRL stations from Jakarta to Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, Bekasi (Bodetabek) and vice versa. This free bus has been operated starting this afternoon.

"We are preparing 50 free buses for KRL passengers in buffer cities," said Head of DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency Syafrin Liputo when confirmed, Friday, June 12.

He said the 50 free buses will operate on Monday and Friday. Every Friday the bus will take passengers from Jakarta to Bodetabek. Meanwhile, on Monday, the bus will carry passengers from Bodetabek to Jakarta.

However, he said, these buses were not placed at all stations, but only at large stations. For example, Sudirman Station, Manggarai Station, Tebet Station, Tanah Abang Station, Juanda Station, and Bogor Station.

"At each station, 5-10 free buses will be provided. Operates on Friday afternoon from Jakarta to Bodetabek and Monday morning from Bodetabek to Jakarta," he said.

Meanwhile, on Friday afternoon, the operation of free buses from Jakarta to Bodetabek starts from Sudirman Station, Manggarai Station, Tebet Station, Tanah Abang Station and Juanda Station.

The schedule is for buses that depart for Bogor Baranangsiang terminal at 16.30 and 18.30 WIB, Bekasi terminal at 16.45 and 18.45 WIB, BSD Modern Market at 17.00 WIB, Depok Margonda Terminal at 17.30 and 19.00 WIB, Cikarang Terminal at 17.45 and 19.30 WIB, and Bintaro Exchange at 18.00 WIB.

It is known that since last June 5, DKI Governor Anies Baswedan has reopened all offices in Jakarta. That way, employees who are domiciled in Jakarta and in the buffer areas will return to work normally.

However, the passenger capacity on the train is limited to only 35 percent. As a result, there was a congestion of queues that snaked outside the commuter train station.
