JAKARTA - The chairman of the Bogor City DPRD, Atang Trisnanto, said that the current prolonged COVID-19 pandemic is a difficult situation for the people, so that those who take the rights of the people affected by COVID-19 are crimes against humanity.
This was conveyed by Atang Trisnanto in response to extortion by unscrupulous persons in Tangerang City against affected residents who received cash social assistance (BST) and in-kind social assistance.
"Currently, it is a 'force majeure' condition so that individuals who commit extortion or take the rights of economically affected people who need assistance are crimes against humanity," he said, quoted by Antara, Friday, July 30.
The chairman of the DPD of the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) for the City of Bogor emphasized that whatever form the action took to take the rights of the recipients of the aid, severe sanctions or punishments must be imposed.
"We support the tactical steps taken by law enforcement officials to take firm action against those who extort social assistance," he said.
Atang Trisnanto explained that the distribution of cash social assistance (BST) and in-kind social assistance in Bogor City was monitored by all parties.
The DPRD which has supervision, he said, will carry out its supervisory function and together with various parties, will ensure that all social assistance can be received by citizens who are entitled and on target.
"Don't let people in need don't get help, and conversely people who can afford it can actually get help. I'm sure all parties care about this problem," he said.
Atang also emphasized that if there are findings of violations, the Bogor City DPRD is committed and supports the steps of the authorities to process and impose strict sanctions, in accordance with applicable legal rules.
Previously, Minister of Social Affairs Tri Risma Harini, when reviewing the distribution of BST and Social Assistance in Tangerang City, Wednesday (28/7), was surprised that there were residents who received social assistance, their social assistance money was cut, under the pretext of plastic bag money.
There are also residents who receive social assistance in the non-cash food assistance program (BPNT) worth Rp. 200,000, but the food provided is only Rp. 177,000 per recipient.
