Joko Tjandra And Pinangki 'Smile' Palu Judge Decides Sentence Discount, Inspector General Napoleon Remains 4 Years

JAKARTA - Inspector General Napoleon Bonaparte had to accept a different fate. The DKI Jakarta High Court (PT) decided that Napoleon's sentence was still 4 years in prison in the case of accepting bribes to abolish red notices.

"Strengthening the Corruption Court Decision at the Central Jakarta District Court dated March 10, 2021 Number 46/Pid.Sus-TPK/2020/PM.Jkt.Pst for which the appeal was requested," said the chairman of the panel of judges, Muhammad Yusuf, as in a copy of the decision accessed from the Supreme Court's website, Tuesday, July 29.

"Considering that the length of imprisonment and the fine that has been imposed on the defendant by the panel of judges of the first instance are deemed fair and commensurate with the guilt of the defendant, therefore the panel of judges at the appellate level can approve the sentencing of the accused," continued the judge.

This difference is clearly visible when compared to the decision received by Joko Soegiarto Tjandra alias Joko Tjandra. He got a year's term in prison.

When compared to Pinangki Sirna Malasari, Inspector General Napoleon Bonaparte's sentence remains 4 years without any 'discount'. PT DKI granted Pinangki's appeal and decided his detention period was 6 years.

Several considerations became the basis for the panel of judges to reduce the sentence. One of them is Pinangki has a small child.

So, Pinangki only had to serve 4 years in prison. In fact, in the first instance, he was sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Meanwhile, the Police, who were asked to comment on the decision of the DKI High Court against Inspector General Napoleon Bonaparte, were reluctant to comment much.

The Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police, Komjen Agus Andrianto, only stated that the judge's decision was based on various considerations. Thus, the Police respect all decisions of the judges.
