Viral 2 TNI Personnel Stepped On Men's Head In Merauke, KSAU Apologizes: This Is The Error Of Our Members, No Official Order

JAKARTA - Air Force Chief of Staff (KSAU) Marshal Fadjar Prasetyo apologized for the incident that a member of the Indonesian Air Force stepped on the head of a Papuan citizen in Merauke. The incident was caught and went viral on social media.

Fadjar said the incident was purely the fault of its members. He promised to take firm action against the two members of the Indonesian Air Force in the video.

"I, as the Air Force Chief of Staff, would like to express my deepest apologies to all of our brothers and sisters in Papua, especially the people in Merauke, especially to the victims and their families," Fadjar said in a video uploaded to Twitter @_TNIAU.

"This happened solely because of the mistakes of our members and there was no intention whatsoever, especially from an official order," he added.

He will evaluate all his members and will also take strict action against the perpetrators who make mistakes.

"Once again, I want to apologize as high as possible. Please open the door for forgiveness," said Fadjar.

Furthermore, the Air Force Twitter account explained, The two Pomau members associated with the incident have now been detained and are under the supervision of the JA Airbase Commander, Dimara Merauke.

"The investigation process is being carried out by Pomau Lanud Merauke," he wrote.

Meanwhile, based on provisional information, the incident occurred due to a misunderstanding between two members of the JA Dimara Merauke Pomau Airbase and residents at a food stall, in Merauke, Monday, July 27.

The incident was initiated by a commotion by a resident who was allegedly drunk with the shop owner, and involved two Pomau members who intended to intervene.
