President Jokowi's Shocking Message: ASN Are Not Officials Who Actually Ask To Be Served

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo said that the State Civil Apparatus (ASN) was not an official being served. Instead they should serve the community.

"ASN is not an official who asks to be served, who looks like an official in the colonial era, that's not allowed anymore, it's not the era anymore," said President Joko Widodo on the Youtube channel, Tuesday, July 27.

President Jokowi conveyed this in the event "Launching ASN Core Values and Employer Branding ASN Proud to Serve the Nation" which was broadcast on 50 Youtube channels of ministries/agencies/local governments throughout Indonesia.

"Every ASN must have the same orientation, which is to provide the best service for the community," said President Jokowi.

According to President Jokowi, every ASN must have a soul to serve to help the community. "For this reason, ASN is equipped with the authority and resources provided by the state," the President added.

According to President Jokowi, these authorities and resources must be used in an accountable manner with high loyalty to the government of the nation and state.

"As well as maintaining a harmonious community life and in the midst of a world full of disruption, capacity building and competence as well as the ability to adapt to change are absolute for ASN," said the President.

The reason is because there are so many problems that cannot be solved by one service, by one region or by one ministry or one institution or by one expertise and one discipline. This means that collaboration across organizations, across regions across knowledge, across professions is very important. "All problems are always cross-sectoral and cross-disciplinary. Currently the world is becoming completely 'hybrid', all collaborative, there should be no ego, either sector ego, regional ego and knowledge ego," the President explained.

The President also gives freedom to local governments to create slogans that are appropriate to their respective regions.

"We all hear very often the slogan or the quality of an organization or company. For a long time, all local governments have had their own motto, some of which have the motto 'Be comfortable', some are 'Rhythmic', 'Friendly' and many more, "said President.

According to the President, variations of the motto between regions is fine because it refers to the peculiarities of each region so that it enriches Indonesia's diversity, but the motto must be in accordance with Pancasila and universal values.

"But on this occasion I emphasize that every state civil apparatus wherever on duty should uphold the same basic values and have the same motto. ASN who serve as central and regional employees must have the same 'core values'," said the President. pathetic.

ASN who work as lecturers, teachers, prosecutors, doctors, nurses, policy analysts, administrators, Satpol PP officers should have the same basic values.

"Even BUMN employees and other employees should have the same reference value proposition," said the President.

The event was also attended virtually by ministers of the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet, heads of institutions, secretary generals/secretaries/secretaries of ministries and institutions, governors, regents, mayors, provincial/district/city secretaries, as well as all ASN in Indonesia.
