BANGLI - Deputy Regent of Bangli, Bali, I Wayan Diar distributed food packages to fishermen who cultivate tilapia with floating net patterns in the Lake Batur area, Kintamani. This assistance is a donation from the local state civil apparatus (ASN).

The assistance was given because previously local fishermen suffered heavy losses after thousands of fish in floating nets died suddenly due to poisoning from the sulfur spray from the bottom of the lake.

"This basic food aid package is the result of mutual cooperation from all state civil servants (ASN) in Bangli Regency. This basic food package assistance is aimed at reducing the burden on people who during this pandemic experience business losses," said the Deputy Regent, after handing over aid in Bangli, quoted by Antara, Monday, July 26.

When handing over the assistance, Wabup Bangli was accompanied by I Wayan Sarma, Head of PKP (Agriculture, Food Security and Fisheries) Bangli.

Tilapia cultivators, known to Bangli people as mujair fish, have been supplying raw materials for Balinese food, Mujair Nyat-Nyat fish, which is very popular because it is processed using local spices.

According to reports, more than 70 tons of fish in Lake Batur have died, so the Bangli Government has provided this basic food package to ease the burden on fish cultivators' needs.

Head of the Bangli Regency PKP Service, I Wayan Sarma, said the number of fish cultivators affected by the sulfur blast in the Lake Batur area was 331 people.

"We know that at Lake Batur there is currently a sulfur explosion disaster, which has killed many of the tilapia fish. The COVID-19 pandemic has now been added to the sulfur flare, so the difficulties of this community have piled up," said Wayan Sarma. .
