JAKARTA - The Jabodetabek Transportation Management Agency (BPTJ) of the Ministry of Transportation will launch the COVID-tracking (L-Cov) application for transportation users in the Jabodetabek area, both public and public transport operators.

Head of BPTJ Polana B. Pramesti stated that this application was made to provide information about the potential for COVID-19 transmission in the environment around the application user. With this application, the public can prevent potential transmission of COVID-19 before and while traveling using private vehicles or public transportation.

"Until now, no vaccine has been found for this disease, therefore early prevention, especially when it is mobile, is important," said Polana in an official statement, Tuesday, June 9.

This application will be launched on Wednesday, June 10 tomorrow. The advantage of this application is the "monitor the road" feature. In this feature, users can monitor the potential for Covid-19 transmission in real time along the route that will be traversed.

In addition to routes, users of the L-Cov application will also get information about the distribution map of Covid 19 patients, both positive and suspect.

In the L-Cov application, users can find out information that displays the risk of COVID-19 and the number of positive patients, PDP, and ODP in an area. This information will be displayed on the front page (dashboard).

"The note is that apart from active GPS, users must also be in an area where data is already available when using this feature," said Polana.

The L-Cov application also has a feature that functions to detect potential transmission of COVID-19 in public transportation facilities that will be used by the community.

"Through QR code technology, users can scan public transportation facilities and infrastructure to identify potential transmission of Covid 19," said Polana.

How to use the L-Cov application

Polana stated that the design of the L-Cov application was designed to be as simple as possible to make it easier for users to find travel information during the early days of COVID-19. Meanwhile, new applications can be obtained by downloading via the Google Play Store application for android users.

New users are required to register by entering some data such as name, cell phone number, domicile, and creating a password. Next, the user is asked to enter the verification code that was previously sent by the system via SMS to the user's mobile phone number.

Next, users are required to carry out an independent diagnosis by answering several questions related to symptoms, history of contact with people with confirmed COVID-19 and travel history.

"The results of the answers from these users will be processed by the system to detect whether the user is classified as potentially infected with COVID-19 or not," said Polana.

After doing self-detection, the user will be taken to the home page of the L-Cov application. On the home page, the L-Cov application will inform you whether the user is in a safe or dangerous zone from COVID-19.
