3 Viral Container Truck Drivers Arrested

JAKARTA - The police arrested three perpetrators of blaming a truck driver which went viral on social media. Currently, all three are still under investigation.

"We have secured three people," said North Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Guruh Arif Darmawan in his statement, Thursday, July 22.

Even though they have arrested the three perpetrators, continued Guruh, his party is still developing. Because it is suspected that there are other actors behind the burglary.

"Currently it is under development. We are developing it again," he said.

"Members are working on the development process," continued Guruh.

Previously reported, acts of thuggery against truck drivers have gone viral on social media. The police immediately intervened and hunted down the perpetrators.

Based on the video uploaded to the Instagram account @recordjakarta, several truck drivers are said to have been victims of bullying by thugs.

The action of the thugs is said to have taken place in the Cilincing area, North Jakarta, on Wednesday, July 21.

Meanwhile, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo some time ago had instructed the entire Regional Police and Polres and ranks to eradicate acts of thuggery that disturbed the public.

"All Polda and Polres in the ranks must take firm action against disturbing acts of thuggery. This is to ensure safety and provide a sense of calm to the community," said Sigit.

The order was issued after the National Police Chief was called by President Joko Widodo. Because, at that time, there were many truck drivers who complained about the rise of illegal levies (extortion).
