JAKARTA - PT HM Sampoerna Tbk (HMSP) stated that it will continue to improve and implement strict health and sanitation protocols, and adapt to new normal standards in carrying out its business activities. Apart from maintaining the health and safety of employees, this is also a commitment to ensuring the best product quality and brand integrity for adult consumers.

All health protocols are carried out with reference to the directions and regulations of the COVID-19 Prevention Protocol for business actors issued by the government and the Task Force.

"One of the mitigation measures, we require each employee to carry out an independent health risk analysis before leaving for work. Only employees with a low-moderate risk level are allowed to go to work, to then follow a series of other protocols. We implement this in all production facilities and company operations, "explained HM Sampoerna President Director, Mindaugas Trumpaitis in a written statement received by VOI, Friday, June 5.

One of the protocols that has been implemented is to distribute thermometers to all production employees so that they can check their body temperature independently.

Especially for production facilities in Surabaya, HMSP requires every employee at Rungkut 1 and Rungkut 2 to take a rapid test. This will be done in stages before Sampoerna re-opens production activities on June 9, 2020.

"This test is important as an effort to mitigate and ensure that no employee is exposed when entering the Sampoerna production facility area, considering that employees at Rungkut 1 have stopped carrying out production activities since the last 4 weeks, while employees of Rungkut 2 have been in the last 6 weeks," explained Mindaugas.

Only employees with a non-reactive rapid test result and obtaining a Health Certificate can enter and work at the production facility.

The next protocol, when employees enter the production facility area, their body temperature will be detected through a thermal camera with a maximum limit of 37.3 degrees Celsius. If it exceeds these provisions, further checks will be carried out at health facilities in the factory and asked not to work temporarily.

For those whose body temperature is within normal limits, they will go through the area of spraying the antiseptic solution thoroughly and carry out sanitation or washing their hands specifically before then wearing the mask that has been provided and will be changed every four hours.

Furthermore, the implementation of keeping a minimum distance of one meter is strictly carried out in all areas of production activities, both when they are working or doing other activities such as resting and worshiping.

The production area was redesigned with a system of small units where there are no more than 40 employees and each small unit is partitioned. This small unit control system is an effort to maintain tighter distances, as well as an anticipatory measure to simplify contact tracing if later needed.

Meanwhile, spraying of disinfectants at production sites along with public facilities such as canteens, toilets, prayer rooms, lockers, cooperatives, ATM machines, and others is done every two hours.

"We have presented and consulted with the government and the local Task Force regarding the implementation of health and sanitation protocols that are stricter than recommended. In fact, we have also appointed a medical consultant to review and provide input," said Mindaugas.

Purpose of Application of the Protocol

The adoption of this protocol is a new normal standard which is very important for the continuity of Sampoerna's business with two main objectives. First, to ensure the health and safety of employees. Second, to ensure product quality and brand integrity for adult consumers.

Not only implementing health and sanitation protocols, starting from March, Sampoerna has also implemented product quarantine standards for a minimum of five days before the products are sent to distribution channels.

The standard time for product quarantine is nearly double the standard time recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the European Centers for Disease Control (European CDC) which states that COVID-19 lasts three days on plastic media and lasts less than one day on plastic media. cardboard or paper media.
