SMEs Ask The Government: Is There No Desire To Change The Strategy To Handle COVID-19?

JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Panjaitan apologized to the Indonesian people because the government had not been optimal in handling COVID-19 when evaluating Emergency PPKM.

As is known, the COVID-19 pandemic which has infected the citizens of the country for more than 1.5 years has not been able to be completely crushed on Mother Earth. In fact, in the last 2 months the number of transmissions and deaths due to COVID-19 has increased so that Indonesia is in first position.

"Is there no desire from the government to change the strategy in dealing with COVID-19?," said PKS DPP chairman Mardani Ali Sera, Monday, July 19.

He considered that the command for handling COVID-19 should be taken over directly by President Jokowi as the highest leader.

Because as head of state, Jokowi has enormous authority to make decisions, so that control will be much more effective.

"Without underestimating the role of the COVID-19 Task Force, whose power or authority is still limited to that of the president," he explained.

According to the member of Commission II of the DPR, the chain of command that the government has arranged is often incomplete, so it is necessary to create a pandemic handling center. For example, vaccination is integrated with drug delivery, oxygen supply, and health services.

"Create a one-stop service center and public complaints in all regencies, cities, sub-districts if necessary, villages and sub-districts in red zone areas," said Mardani.

In addition, the government must prioritize health issues, don't think about anything other than handling COVID-19.

"This must continue to be voiced, because it is often influenced by non-health interests such as the economy, security to politics," said Mardani.
