40 Health Workers In Central Maluku Are Positive For COVID-19

JAKARTA - As many as 40 health workers on duty at the Saparua Hospital, Central Maluku Regency, Maluku Province have tested positive for COVID-19. They are currently undergoing intensive care and self-isolation.

"Initially 27 people were tested positive based on the results of the PCR test that came out on July 3, 2021. While the other 13 results just came out last week," said Public Relations of Saparua Hospital Neles Siahainenia, confirmed from Ambon, Friday.

He confirmed that dozens of medical and non-medical personnel were currently undergoing intensive care and quarantine at the hospital's official residence.

They were declared positive after undergoing a rapid antigen test on July 1, 2021. Antigen tests for health workers at the hospital are routinely carried out to check the health conditions of the health workers.

Based on these results, a PCR test was carried out and the samples were sent for examination at the Class II Center for Environmental Health and Disease Control Engineering (BTL-PP) Ambon.

He stated that the condition of the 40 hospital personnel was asymptomatic and the treatment process was monitored and supervised directly by a team of doctors.

There are still 59 medical, non-medical and administrative staff serving health services at the hospital, including treatment for health workers who are positive for Corona.

He admitted, the service at the hospital is still running smoothly. The hospital has opened a service post at the front of the hospital, equipped with beds to optimize services.

"All rooms in the hospital were also sterilized for five five days last week. Therefore, people should not hesitate to seek treatment because they are served optimally," he said.
