East Java Governor Encourages Acceleration Of COVID-19 Vaccination For Teenagers, Including In Islamic Boarding Schools

SIDOARJO - The Governor of East Java, Khofifah Indar Parawansa, has encouraged the acceleration of the implementation of COVID-19 vaccination for adolescents aged 12 to 17 years.

"We encourage the acceleration of vaccination for teenagers, one of which can be done in Islamic boarding schools," he said after reviewing the implementation of mass vaccination at the Al Amanah Modern Islamic Boarding School in Sidoarjo Regency, quoted by Antara, Friday, July 16.

"I hope that male and female students who have been vaccinated can continue to apply health protocols, especially wearing masks, maintaining distance, and also washing hands," he said.

Governor Khofifah said the implementation of vaccination could be accelerated with the support of volunteers.

"For screening personnel and also those who inject can be from health workers, but for registration staff and data input, volunteers may be able to find," he said.

Khofifah hopes that the COVID-19 vaccination coverage in the East Java region can reach 70 percent of the population by August 2021.

"Because after the research, it takes 70 percent or more of the people who have been vaccinated to create mutual immunity," said the Governor of East Java.
