TANJUNGPINANG - The Tanjungpinang City COVID-19 Handling Task Force confirmed that there was no COVID Hunter Team hunting for residents who left their homes above 19.00 WIB.

A member of the Tanjungpinang COVID-19 Handling Task Force, Riono, said the information related to the action of the COVID Hunter Team was hoax news, which caused public unrest.

"There is no COVID Hunter Team. It's a hoax. But the positive impact is still there, residents don't dare to leave their homes for things that are less important," said Riono, who is also the former Secretary of Tanjungpinang, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, July 14.

He explained that every policy that was set and implemented by the regional government was basically in accordance with the provisions set by the central government and the Riau Islands Provincial Government. The Tanjungpinang City Government has never formed a COVID Hunter Team.

"I have never heard of or seen such a team," said Riono, who is now assigned by the Mayor of Tanjungpinang Rahma to handle vaccinations.

In addition, Riono, who now serves as the Head of the Tanjungpinang Environmental Service, said that the implementation of the Emergency Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) in Tanjungpinang had been running smoothly in the past two days.

In general, there are no obstacles in blocking at three points of the border area between Bintan Regency and Tanjungpinang.

"Tonight we are monitoring the implementation of Emergency PPKM in the Tanjungpinang border area with Bintan," he said.

Information regarding the COVID Hunter Team is widely circulated on social media. Based on information, which until now has not been known who the original source was, the team moved over at 19.00 WIB.

The information circulating also stated that the cross-sector COVID Hunter Team brought laboratory officers and ambulances, then immediately carried out a swab test using the antigen method on people who were found to be out of the house after 19.00 WIB.
