The Deputy Governor's Response To The Absence Of Jakarta In The Schedule For The 2022 Formula E Organizer: I Just Heard

JAKARTA - The International Automotive Federation (FIA) as the manager of Formula E in New York, United States, has released a provisional calendar for the implementation of Formula E in 2022.

However, Jakarta is not on the list of Formula E organizers in 2022. Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta, Ahmad Riza Patria, admits that he just found out.

"We'll check it out later. I just heard about Formula E", said Riza at DKI City Hall, Central Jakarta, Tuesday, July 13.

Riza said PT Jakpro as the implementer of Formula E in Jakarta would follow up.

"It will be checked at Jakpro which is given the task of managing and implementing Formula E in Jakarta in 2022", he said.

The blank name of Jakarta in the calendar of the organizers of this electric car racing event raises a question mark. Because, some time ago, Riza believed that Formula E could be held in 2022 after being postponed for 2 years since 2020.

If in 2022 the COVID-19 pandemic still hits, Riza, namely DKI, will be able to hold Formula E by implementing health protocols.

"God willing, in 2022 we will implement Formula E in Jakarta. Of course, by regulations, provisions, etc., and health protocols, if indeed 2022 is still quite high", Riza said on March 22.

It is known, on its official website, fiaformulae.com, the FIA released 16 races in 12 cities. However, there is no name Jakarta on the list of organizers. Meanwhile, there is a schedule with TBD (to be determined) information on June 4, 2022.

FIA Formula E Co-Founder Alberto Longo said DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan asked for additional time to be appointed as one of the organizers of the electric car racing event.

"We planned to go (to hold) there, but the Governor (Anies) himself asked for time to (postpone) the announcement of the race (for the Jakarta location)", Alberto was quoted as saying by motorsport.com on Tuesday, July 13.

Launching Jalopnik, season 8 of Formula E will bring drivers and their teams to more countries around the world. In addition to Saudi Arabia, Mexico, China, Italy, Monaco, Germany, the United States, and the UK - which have become subscriptions to Formula E organizers - next year there will be the cities of Cape Town (South Africa), Vancouver (Canada), and Seoul (SouthKorea).
