COVID-19 Update As Of June 2: Positive Cases In Jakarta Decrease

JAKARTA - Government spokesman for the handling of COVID-19, Achmad Yurianto said, additional temporary cases per Tuesday, June 2. Today there are 609 people tested positive for the virus, bringing the total number of positive patients to 27,549.

Meanwhile, patients who recovered also increased. Around 298 people were declared cured or negative from COVID-19. Thus, the national total is 7,935 people.

Death cases have decreased slightly when compared to the previous data. A total of 22 people died from contracting COVID-19, bringing the total to 1,663 people.

On specimen examination, until 12.00 WIB around 9,049 verified specimens. Meanwhile, the rest were constrained by time and had not yet been examined.

"However, the examination has not been completed yet because the time has been cut until 12.00 WIB is 1143 specimens. So that the total we have examined so far is 342,466 specimens using both the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) machine and the fast molecular test (TCM)," said Yuri Graha BNPB, Jakarta, Tuesday, June 2.

For the case of people under monitoring (ODP) the number reached 48,023 people. Meanwhile, for patients under surveillance (PDP) it reached 13,213 people.

DKI Jakarta Has Decreased

Although there are still many positive cases found, Yuri said, it does not mean that it describes the condition nationally. This is because several regions have experienced a decrease in positive cases.

Based on the data, one of the regions that experienced a decrease in positive cases was DKI Jakarta. Referring to previous data, the capital city is the largest contributor with positive cases reaching 137 people. Meanwhile, for data as of June 2, less than half of them were positive patients.

"DKI Jakarta Province has 60 cases. This is compared to yesterday's decline," said Yuri.

In addition, several other regions have also experienced a decline. South Sulawesi from 45 to 44 positive cases and South Sumatra to 24 cases.

"South Sulawesi with 44 cases. Compared to yesterday, this is a decrease in South Sumatra by 24 cases when compared to yesterday's decline," said Yuri.

Then, there are four provinces that only get 1 positive case and 11 provinces that report if there are no additional positive cases at all. Even though, the number has decreased from yesterday, this still shows a positive step to get out of the early days of COVID-19.

"There are provinces that report now there is only one positive case and 11 provinces which today reported no additional cases at all," said Yuri.
