MAKASSAR - The Mayor of Makassar, Moh Ramdhan Pomanto (Danny Pomanto) encourages teachers to teach students to filter all forms of information early on as an anti-hoax movement in the midst of the rapid flow of multimedia digitalization during the COVID-19 pandemic.

"I advise teachers to teach students to show the difference between hoax information and true news. Because too many hoaxes can cause hatred," said Danny Pomanto during a virtual meeting of the Introduction to the School Environment (MPLS) in Makassar, South Sulawesi, quoted by Antara. , Tuesday, July 13.

By providing understanding to students from an early age regarding hoax information circulating, he said, teaching staff are also required to be more open and understand current conditions, including studying facts and evidence, whether the news is true or false.

Because, this is important to do so as not to damage the system that has been running for a long time in the world of education. The era of digitization is certainly beneficial if applied correctly and positively.

Danny Pomanto suggested, not only to distinguish between hoax or false information, and true information, but teachers must teach students about the past, in this case history. The goal is that students can appreciate history from an early age.

Although the current condition of the education world must follow the rules of learning through virtual. However, Danny hopes that these new students and other students can listen and understand the lesson well, even online.

"Our constraints this time are different, because of the COVID-19 pandemic, so learning will continue to be held virtually. I have high hopes for my children to continue to follow the lessons well and pay attention to health protocols even though they are virtual," he explained.

However, the teaching and learning process during the pandemic did not meet face-to-face in class, Danny continued to encourage students to continue to increase their knowledge through television, newspapers, and social media.

"The media can also present good things for life and important information for our students, as long as they are not influenced and exposed to hoaxes that are currently misleading and carried out massively," added the mayor of Makassar.
